This book is priceless. Elders, deacons, and even those not interested in leadership should read this book. This is from the 6th Century and it reminds us, there is nothing new under the sun. In following CS Lewis's advice, I now read one new and two old. This qualifies as the old.Section 2 is the gold in this book. It's really an exposition of humility in ministry and how it should manifest in our care for others, even how we should view others and allow them to view us.Section 3 reveals why we need to have wisdom. Gregory does an excellent job of showing why we cannot boil every counsel, confrontation, and life decision down to the same rule (we cannot just make a rule and then be rule enforcers), but have to realize that who we are talking too, his or her predicament, gender, age, and life situation should influence how we counsel and lead others. Wisdom is the missing discussion among ministers and one reason why discernment ministries jump the shark and produce children twice the sons of hell.Read this fast, then read it slow, then read it with someone and talk about how to live this out in your situation -- personalize his counsel.
